What’s The Least Expensive Way To Replace Your Windows?

If you’re in the market for new windows, you want the highest quality for the most reasonable price. Investing in the cheapest products is tempting but can cost you more in the long run. On average, every uninsulated window in your home costs an additional $20 per winter.

Minor changes, such as adding a double-pane to your design, can save up to 31% in heating and cooling costs. We’re here to help you save money, but buying the cheapest products you can find isn’t the solution.

Keep reading to learn the most cost-efficient way to replace your windows, or check out our Window Buying Guide.

Selecting Budget-Friendly Windows

Bright, clean kitchen with a new window behind kitchen sink.

Today’s windows are a marvel of engineering brilliance. They provide more insulation than ever and can make a significant impact. The best, most cost-effective windows offer:

  • Frames that reduce heat flow via a thermal break, which prevents conductivity between your frame and sash
  • Frames that improve on wood’s thermal properties
  • Triple glazing, which relies on spacers to prevent thermal conduction
  • Insulated panels that rely on hermetically sealed panes to reduce your U-factor.
  • Low-emissivity coatings that cut back on heat transfer by up to 15% and decrease energy usage by as much as 50%
  • Spectrally selective coatings that allow sunshine through, but not infrared radiation.
  • Inert gas fills to accommodate thermal expansion without allowing moisture to leak in.

The best products cost more upfront, but their long-term savings make them an excellent choice. Exceptional thermal resistance will help your HVAC systems and water heaters achieve their effects with less electricity.

As a result, your HVAC systems won’t have to work as hard, resulting in less wear and tear and a longer serviceable life span.

Choose Window Features That Will Save You Money

We’ve established that choosing unclad, single-pane windows will cost you more over time, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have money-saving options available to you.

You can reduce your upfront costs by focusing on the value of your window features rather than just the price on the tag. Value tells you how to achieve the highest U-factor at the lowest possible cost.

Some window companies price their products for the market they serve rather than the product features. Premium windows don’t always have premium features, so your first step is to establish the insulating capabilities, UV resistance, and life span of your window features.

Now you’re equipped to find a brand that values its product quality by efficiency rather than target markets.

Get Help from a Reputable Company

Team of window installers installing large white-frame window with grids in brick home.

Every manufacturer believes their product is the best on the market, but don’t just take their word for it. An ethical business will give you an honest appraisal of their products’ value without rushing you through a sale.

When choosing a window replacement company, refer to their reviews and the ratings on the products they install. Replacing windows is a significant investment, so it’s best to take your time selecting the right contractor.

An exceptional service provider is easy to identify by the honesty of their approach and the transparency in their pricing. Don’t fall for pushy sales tactics. Place your focus where it counts: on what your windows can offer you over the long term. A lasting product is worth its weight in savings.

Great company that backs their product. We built a new house and Quality Window & Doors was the subcontractor for our Weathershield windows and doors. Wayne and Noe came out to service a broken handle on our 16' Weathershield sliding door. We were technically beyond the warranty period but they repaired the handle for free. They also took the time to go around and adjust our other exterior doors to make sure they were well aligned now that the house had settled a bit. Wayne was a real expert and got all the doors adjusted and working perfectly!

We are thrilled with our new windows and door! Excellent job from estimate to completion! The install team was fantastic and I loved that the lead installer was also present during the initial measurement phase. It took a few months for the windows to arrive so it was really nice to see a familiar face for the install and he knew exactly what to do! Highly recommend!!
