If you installed new or replacement windows in your home this year, you may qualify for a tax credit on your 2014 tax returns. The previously-expired energy efficiency tax credit was re-established as of January 2, 2013 as a part of the legislation that helped us avoid the fiscal cliff. The tax credit, known as the 25C tax credit, provides up to $500 in federal tax credits for energy-efficient windows.
The tax credit is for 10 percent of the materials portion of your order, up to $500. It is important to note, however, that if you have already taken advantage of the $500 cap on energy-efficient improvements since 2006, you are NOT eligible to receive more.
Only qualifying windows installed before December 31st, 2013 are eligible for this tax credit, so act now if you want to fit your project in before the end of the year!
If you are unsure whether you qualify for the energy efficiency tax credit, or want to make sure your future window or door purchase qualifies, read the requirements below:
If you have additional questions about the Federal Energy Tax Credit, please feel free to call us or contact us through the contact form on the right.
The tax credit is only available on window installations completed before Dec. 31st, 2013, so contact us today to take advantage of this incentive before it expires!
